Mother's Day -- Make it Meaningful!

Mother's Day Is Here!

It's reported that in the arena of all-things-floral, it's the biggest day of the year.  It's the FIFA World Cup, the Olympics and the Super Bowl combined where florists reign as victors.  Many players in the floral game are already recuperating from the arduous task of the digital tap, click and submit.

Those whose payments were successful, ensured bountiful bouquets crossed the end zone into the waiting receivers' arms of mothers, wives, mothers-in-law, girlfriends and other great women who are mothers or who have "mothered."

 SCORE!
And, everyone invested in the arena of all-things-floral cheers wildly!

WAIT!
Flag on the play!

With all due respect to the floral industry and to those who support, I recognize and acknowledge that it is definitely a winning strategy.  I, myself, am a grateful member of the team of happy recipients and participants.  So, this in no way is intended as a complaint -- it's an observation from a fellow player on the field -- a call to up the ante -- a challenge of sorts.

Here it is.  Before you return to this annual field-of-play, determine if your floral purchase is out of habit or is an intentional act that accurately communicates your intended message of love and appreciation.  If motive-correction is needed, run a different play -- find another course.

Try this -- let your flowers be accompanied with your undistracted and undisrupted personal time and attention.  Let her see why she means so much to you.  The prize of creating memorable moments is precious.  Make the women you honor the real champions.  It is they who truly deserve the gold.

Start your engines -- Mother's Day is here.  Make it meaningful.
